SHARPE INCOME … Introducing Margin

Posted on Dec 9 2016 - 3:54pm by Sharpe Trade

(We continue ‘The Sharpe Income‘ Project from the previous entry)

We are doing well as of late.  We still have a few weeks to go, but it looks like it’s going to be a good year of performance for The Sharpe Income project.

Let’s take this time, to say that in the future we are going to consider this account as having applied for, and being approved for … margin privileges.  This will allow us to use a small amount of leverage in the future.

No.   I have no immediate plans to leverage any positions.

But at a certain times I do use leverage.  Responsibly.  Unless I am intra-day trading futures …. I rarely leverage myself over 1.3 to 1.

But when I want such privileges available, I‘ll want to make sure it is present.  And we have not yet specified this project as a “margin” project.  Therefore we are doing so now.  Margin privileges are something that all individual traders must apply for.  So we’re just saying, in the here and now … we’re considering this project as a ‘margin’ account, able to purchase more in stock, than cash is present in the account.

Other than that small detail … we’ll simply continue grinding our way forward

(We will continue the free ‘Sharpe Income‘ Project in this next entry)

What interest rate for the margin are you going to use?

      Good question.

The margin rates for myself personally sort of ‘float around’ depending on the environment. And naturally, if I’m not using the leverage, I’m not charged for it. So … probably, when the opportunity to come about to use the leverage? I’ll select the worst rate (to keep it interesting, lol) one of my brokers is offering at the time that I do decide to use it.
